Freeman Ipumbu
Systems Engineer · Design Researcher · Product Builder
I keep networks, servers and the people who depend on them running—then take the same systems discipline into research and product engineering. I do not stop at the idea. I frame the problem, build the artefact, test the weak points and take it into the real world.

Profile
I'm a proactive, detail-oriented IT engineer with a ten-year track record across telecom and enterprise IT — from NOC monitoring desks to offshore vessel server rooms. I've spent my career at the intersection of network infrastructure, security, and end-user support: the layer where technical decisions meet the people who actually rely on them.
My work spans firewall administration, network diagnostics, hardware lifecycle management, and IT service management under ITIL and ISO frameworks — always with an eye on documentation, because a system nobody can explain is a system nobody can fix at 2am.
I'm currently Senior IT Systems Administrator at The Free Press of Namibia / The Namibian, and Namibia Media Trust at large — active in the role since 20 July 2026, and rebuilding the department's infrastructure documentation and network from the ground up. Beyond operations, I publish design science research and build production-grade Namibian digital products through a research-led engineering practice.
Infrastructure thinking, visualized.
From edge devices to core services, every layer has a job—and every connection has a story.
Protocol Stack
Ten years of skills, organized the way I organize everything else — as a stack, bottom to top. Tap a layer to expand it.
Change Log
Employment history, logged the way I log every change to a production system — what was opened, what it involved, and its current status.
A decade of increasing responsibility.
From NOC operations and offshore support to senior systems administration.
Seven layers. One systems mindset.
Select a layer and watch the infrastructure respond.
Built beyond the brief.
Real problems, research-led decisions and working artefacts—from public-interest, aviation and maritime operations to Namibian consumer platforms.
Magic Boys FC
A joyful, mobile-first identity and digital home for a Namibian community football team founded to help young people stay off the streets, learn discipline and grow through sport—with a privacy-first story and a direct path for future sponsors.
Utuseb — Drinks & Delivery
A mobile ordering and operations platform for a private Namibian drinks business: delivery or arranged pickup, 47 product-specific catalogue lines including ice and AirsPops, universal 18+ ID verification, cash/eWallet checkout, an installable PWA, live fulfilment, stock control and downloadable reports.
Omwenyo Renal Health Centre
A living, interactive brand and website for an emerging renal-care initiative in Nkurenkuru—uniting clinical trust, human dignity and a distinctly Namibian visual language while clearly respecting its development-stage status.

A premium responsive experience that brings early learning, tutoring, after-school care, vocational training and counselling into one clear institutional journey.
Borizago
An installable booking and service-request platform for Boriza Shuttle & Tours. Customers can reserve live scheduled-shuttle capacity across seven Namibian towns, use guided enquiry flows for airport, parcel, private and tour services, accept operating terms and keep downloadable travel guides on their phone.
Omutambo Herd Operations
A Namibia-first livestock operations workspace that brings cattle identity, health, breeding, camps, water points, movements, tasks, costs and field evidence into one reviewable operating picture.
Runnerz Namibia
A route-driven social running network that helps people form safer, realistic runs around pace, intent, timing, place and earned trust. The shipped system now includes a Founder-only operational command for live product signals, Insider workflow, exports and accountable audit history.
MOHSS AIRMED COMMAND
A governed national ecosystem connecting air-medical mission coordination, clinical and aviation readiness, accountable authorization, cross-Ministry integration and secondary public-service mobility for specialist outreach, workforce rotations and medical logistics.
NamAir Command
An aviation command, crew-readiness and rostering prototype designed to make duty assumptions, mission pressure, fleet state and the evidence behind release decisions legible.
NamMar Command
A vessel-operations command centre unifying voyage planning, fleet readiness, live marine weather, plain-language crew-change guidance and verified public AIS vessel status in one accountable operating picture.
IT Handover Continuance
A living operational artefact that treats knowledge continuity as a system to be sustained, evaluated and improved—not a document to be filed and forgotten.
KICKOFF NAM
A public, source-linked Namibian football archive connecting players, clubs, competitions, regions, coaches, agents, match history, photographic context and a concise national football atlas in one inspectable experience.

A local-first music experience bringing library discovery, queues, playlists, playback state, sound shaping and audio-reactive visualisation into one coherent Kotlin Multiplatform product direction.
OBSERVE → FRAME → DESIGN → BUILD → EVALUATE → HARDEN → SHIP
Published Research
A design science research study on structuring IT knowledge transfer — born directly out of inheriting (and rebuilding) an IT department's handover documentation.
- Frames IT handover continuity as a design problem, not a one-time document handoff
- Applies a design science research (DSR) methodology to build and evaluate a repeatable handover artifact
- Source, method, and full write-up published openly for reuse by other IT teams

Field Notes
What runs in the background when I'm off the clock.
Disciplines that connect.
Networking is the centre. Security, systems, service management and emerging technology orbit around it.
Beyond the title.
A senior technical profile should point outward—to professional networks, published work and evidence of continued learning.
